Sedona, AZ - April 27, 2005 - Whacky Music, Inc., makers of Boomwhackers® Musical Tubes, today announced the release of a book designed to bring a new dimension to church music programs. Bible Boomers™, a collection of original and traditional songs for Christian education, "is the first product for our award-winning Boomwhackers® Musical Tubes that we developed specifically for the church market," says Whacky Music president and founder Craig Ramsell.
This innovative songbook, latest in Whacky Music's Educational and Group Fun Series, incorporates the sound and action of the tubes to express the stories of scripturally based songs. The tubes become fishing nets in "Fishers of Men" and swords in "Stand Your Ground." Included are lead sheets with melodies, lyrics and chords, as well as program suggestions for instrumental and vocal tracks. Vocals are performed by the Joy Jammers of the Brookville Road, IN, Community Church.
Bible Boomers was developed by Ellen Foncannon, Director of Educational Materials for Whacky Music. She composed original songs for the book, noting Biblical references for each, and arranged the traditional tunes. Foncannon is also a music educator, composer and church musician whose publications include works for keyboard, choir and Boomwhackers tubes.
Foncannon's slogan is "Make music everything but boring!" She says the new songbook "brings both fun and original ways of enjoying music" to church music programs, Sunday schools, Bible schools and church camps.
The release of Bible Boomers marks Whacky Music's second foray into the Christian education genre. Last year the company published Tubular Spirituals™, a book designed to "breathe new lfie into traditional spirituals," says Foncannon, who arranged the 15 pieces. With titles like "Kum Ba Yah," "Peace Like a River" and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," these songs are suitable for both school and church. Optional medleys are provided for performance. Whacky Music also produces a full range of curriculum, songbooks and activities books for Boomwhackers Musical Tubes.
Anyone can make joyful musi with Boomwhackers Musical Tubes. First introduced in 1995, the patented tubes are unique instruments made of brightly colored plastic and tuned by length to different musical notes. They are especially group-oriented for indoor and outdoor activities — lightweight, portable, colorful, kid-proof and loads of fun. Over three million Boomwhackers Musical Tubes have been sold to date. Hundreds of thousands of the tubes are being used for music education in schools around the world.
Whacky Music, Inc. was started in 1998 by Craig Ramsell to produce and distribute the musical tubes he invented in 1994 when recycling a cardboard gift-wrap tube. The tube was too long for the curbside recycling pick-up requirements, so Ramsell it in two. He then whimsically played the two pieces on his thighs and whack! — the idea was born right then and there.
Boomwhackers tubes have won numerous awards, including a prestigious selection by Parents' Choice Foundation as one of the Best 25 Toys in 25 Years. The company's website is www.boomwhackers.com.
