Sedona, AZ - November 30, 2004 - Whacky Music, Inc., makers of Boomwhackers® Musical Tubes, announced today that its Boomophone™ XTS Whack Pack has recently received several awards from several parenting and children's organizations.
Craig Ramsell, president of Whacky Music and creator of the Boomwhackers products, said the new awards are "another endorsement of our unique approach to making music available to children in a fun way. Kids love the tubes because they are colorful, and easy and fun to play with. There is almost no learning curve, so there is no learning barrier.
The most recent awards are:
* Parents' Choice Seal of Approval – This award indicates a wholesome product that helps children enjoy developing physical, emotional, social or academic skills. Judges include parents, teachers, psychologists and other professionals who are closely involved in the lives of children.
* The National Parenting Center Seal of Approval – Describing the Boomophone Whack Pack as a "unique musical toy almost as eye-catching as it is fun to play." TNPC's award also called attention to the Whack Pack's ease of use and colorful design. The organization's seal of approval program identifies the finest products and services being marketed to the parent/child audience.
* iParenting Media Award – This award is given to the best products in the children's media and juvenile products industry. Winners of this distinguished award must pass a thorough evaluation process that includes licensed childcare centers, experts and parents nationwide.
* Creative Child Magazine's Top Creative Toys for 2004 – Creative Child Magazine is a bi-monthly publication that provides parents with the latest information on how to nurture their child's creativity. This award also recognizes the Whack Pack's value in music education, both in schools and in the home.
The patented Boomhackers Musical Tubes are tuned by length to different color-coded musical notes and made of brightly colored plastic. They are not only enjoyed by children, but by music educators around the world. The tubes produce a unique sound, and have been used on recordings and soundtracks and in numerous professional performances.
In late 2003 Parents' Choice Foundation selected Whacky Music's most popular product as one of the Best 25 Toys in 25 Years. Parents' Choice, the nation's premier non-profit guide to quality children's media, bestowed this prestigious award on the firm's C Major Diatonic Scale set of Boomwhackers Tuned Percussion Tubes. This set is also a primary component of the Boomophone Whack Pack.
Other awards won by Boomwhackers products include a Parents' Choice Gold Award, a Dr. Toy's Best 100 Children's Products Award, and an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal.
Said Ramsell, "These awards in the children's field are extremely gratifying. I have heard so many stories about people's experiences with the tubes, seen so many kids' faces light up when they get their hands on them. Best of all, Boomwhackers are a rare combination of actual musical instrument and musical toy."
Even celebrity musicians have given a big thumbs-up to Boomwhackers. At the recent American Music Awards in Los Angeles and Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas, the Whack Pack "received rave reviews from celebrities," said Ramsell. He reported that Jon Bon Jovi and Kenny G were amond the many celebrities who visited the Whacky Music booth at the Los Angeles event, and both wanted Boomwhackers for their kids.
About Whacky Music, Inc.
Whacky Music, Inc. was started in 1998 by Craig Ramsell to produce and distribute the musical tubes he invented in 1994 when recycling a cardboard gift-wrap tube. The tube was too long for the curbside recycling pick-up requirements, so Ramsell cut it in two. He then whimsically played the two pieces on his thighs and whack! — the idea was born right then and there.
Nearly three million of Whacky Music's Boomwhackers Musical Tubes have been sold to date. Hundreds of thousands of the tubes are being used for music education in tens of thousands of schools around the world. Other "whacky" products that make the experience more fun include the XyloTote™ Tube Holder, Whack-a-Doodle-Doo! Songbook and Octavator™ Tube Caps that lower the pitch an octave. The company also produces an entire line of educational materials for using the tubes in classrooms and other group environments.
